Steamed Asparagus with Shallots

Equipment

  • 1 knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • Steamer
  • 1 small skillet
  • 1 medium spoon
  • 1 citrus zester

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large shallot sliced
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 bunch asparagus trimmed
  • 1 lemon zested

Instructions
 

  • Heat some water in the bottom of a steamer.
  • Place the trimmed asparagus in the top of the steamer.
  • Place the lid on top and steam the asparagus until vibrant green and crisp-tender. Thin spears may only take a couple of minutes to steam; however, thick spears may take 7 minutes or longer.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in a skillet.
  • Add sliced shallots and sauté until tender.
  • Remove the asparagus from the steamer to a serving plate.
  • Spoon the shallots and butter over the asparagus.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Zest the lemon over the asparagus. Serve immediately.
