Steamed Asparagus with Shallots

1 small skillet
1 medium spoon
1 citrus zester
- 1 large shallot sliced
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1 bunch asparagus trimmed
- 1 lemon zested
Heat some water in the bottom of a steamer.
Place the trimmed asparagus in the top of the steamer.
Place the lid on top and steam the asparagus until vibrant green and crisp-tender. Thin spears may only take a couple of minutes to steam; however, thick spears may take 7 minutes or longer.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a skillet.
Add sliced shallots and sauté until tender.
Remove the asparagus from the steamer to a serving plate.
Spoon the shallots and butter over the asparagus.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Zest the lemon over the asparagus. Serve immediately.
