Classic Baked Beans

What would a barbecue be without some baked beans on the side? You can easily make this recipe with or without sugar by using sugar alternatives and sugar free products. Don't worry, you get the same great taste either way.

Equipment

  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 knife
  • Measuring cups

Ingredients
  

  • 3 15-oz. cans pork and beans (you can also use vegetarian beans if you can find them)
  • 1/3 cup Swerve brown sugar (or regular brown sugar)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (use your favorite)
  • 6 strips bacon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Pour the pork and beans from the can in a rectangular baking dish.
  • Add the onion and green bell pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Add the ketchup and brown sugar. Stir thoroughly until incorporated.
  • Place strips of bacon across the top of the beans.
  • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
