Espresso Rubbed Steak with Onions and Peppers

Kick up your steak a notch with a flavorful spice rub with notes of coffee and smoky flavors. This elegant entree will make your people think you slaved over the stove, when it is really a 30-minute meal. Even though the list of ingredients sounds extensive, these are all items that most cooks keep on-hand. k is truly amazing!

Equipment

  • 1 knife
  • 1 Indoor or outdoor grill

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup instant espresso powder
  • 1/4 cup Swerve brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 2 Tbsp. sage
  • 1 Tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. cayenne
  • 4 T-bones, New York strip steaks or ribeyes
  • 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 orange bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 small zucchini, sliced in half moons
  • 1 lime, cut in wedges

Instructions
 

  • Rub some oil over the steak. Season with salt and pepper. Rub each side of the steak with the spice mix.
  • Grill the steak until it reaches a desired doneness for your taste.
  • Remove from the Grill and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Slice or cut the steak into chunks,
  • At the same time, saute the onions and peppers in oil until crisp-tender.
  • Serve the steak with the vegetables over the top.
