Who doesn’t love a good steak? Coffee and spices flavor a juicy steak cooked to perfection for this recipe. The rub gives the steak a richness especially when the juice from the steak mingles with the caramelized onions.
Ingredients
1/4 cup instant espresso powder
1/4 cup Swerve brown sugar
2 Tbsp. chili powder
2 Tbsp. smoked paprika
2 Tbsp. sage
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1 tsp. cayenne
4 T-bones, New York strip steaks, T-bones or other steak varieties
2 tsp. oil
1 large red onion, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
1 orange bell pepper, cut into strips
1 small zucchini, sliced in half moons
1 lime, cut in wedges
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the espresso powder, brown sugar Swerve, chili powder, smoked paprika, ground sage, onion powder and cayenne. Stir well.
Rub some oil over the steak. Season with salt and pepper. Rub each side of the steak with the spice mix.
Grill the steak until it reaches a desired doneness for your taste. When the steaks are done, remove and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Slice or cut into chunks.
At the same time, saute the onions and peppers in oil until crisp-tender.
Serve the steak with the vegetables over the top.
