Zucchini Gratin
Zucchini, buttery Gruyere cheese and a creamy sauce bake up into an amazing side dish. This casserole is perfect to serve along side steak, chicken, pork or fish.

cheese grater

1 frying pan with lid
1 Large spoon
1 8x10 baking dish
- 6 Tbsp. butter + more for topping
- 1 lb. yellow onions, chopped ct in 1.2 and sliced
- 2 lbs. zucchini, sliced roughly about 4 zucchini, sliced 1/4" thick
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 cup hot milk
- 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 3/4 cup Gruyere cheese, grated grated
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Melt the butter in a large frying pan and cook onions for 20 minutes until tender but not brown.
Add zucchini.
Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Add salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Cook uncovered for 5 minutes.
Stir in flour.
Add the hot milk and cook over low heat for a few minutes until it makes a sauce.
Pour into an 8x10 baking dish.
Combine the breadcrumbs and Gruyere cheese.
Sprinkle on top of the zucchini mixture.
Dot with butter and bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly and brown.
