Rate this post

If you have lived in the Houston area, Churrasco’s is a familiar restaurant. Churrasco’s is a somewhat upscale restaurant serving Brazilian style fare. You can find Churrasco’s in five Houston locations: River Oaks, Westchase, Sugar Land, Memorial City and The Woodlands. If you are near one of these areas and want something to eat that is a little bit different, visit one of these locations for a delicious meal!

The Westchase location is a special place for me and my husband because we had our wedding rehearsal dinner there 23 years ago. We have frequently visited the Sugar Land location as it is the closest to our neighborhood area. We like to save Churrasco’s for special occasions, so that is what we did on this night to celebrate my and my son’s birthday and our anniversary. All locations have a unique design and ambiance.

All locations have the same menu with steak entrees as their specialty. Each table is served a basket of freshly fried plantains with a chimichurri dip and a chipotle-infused salsa. Starters include a variety of empanadas, ceviche and guacamole, crab fingers and tuna tostadas and wings. A sampler including yucca fries, relish, rum glazed plantains, and rice are also available. On this visit, we ordered the sampler.

If keeping to a lighter meal, soups and salads on the menu include a black bean soup, chicken tortilla soup, and a variety of unique salads. You will want to eat every bite of your entrée if you can because they are so flavorful and delicious. Portions are large and pricing for entrees is around $17.99 and up.

On this day, my husband ordered the Los Saltido, which is Peruvian beef tips with red onions, red and ahi peppers and ginger served over French fries, like poutine, and jasmine rice on the side. My son and I ordered the Filet en Salsa Jalapena, which is a thinly sliced beef tenderloin with a creamy jalapeno sauce laced with tender onions and served with crispy jalapenos, Brazilian-style pinto beans and pico de gallo. This also comes in a chicken version.

Other entrees include carnitas, plantain-encrusted shrimp and chicken, grilled meat dishes, paella and fajitas. The side dishes complement the entrees with a unique style. Churrasco’s offers several vegetarian options on its menu, such as Spinach and Mushroom Enchiladas. a plantain-encrusted eggplant, a mixed vegetable plate and a Portobello Sandwich.

Save room for dessert? We couldn’t do it, but we ordered Vanilla Tres Leches to go as we did not want to leave a morsel of our entrée. Other desserts on the menu include a chocolate truffle cake, dulce de leche cookies, flan and Tequila Bread Pudding.

You can’t go wrong at Churrasco’s for a delicious meal with style!
