A while back, I posted about a Do It Yourself Spa Day at home. You can find it here. It was one of my most popular posts, so I decided to do another one. Some elements are the same, but there are a few differences in products and areas of focus. It is easy to pamper yourself at home for very little money. All you need is time and products. A full spa day will cost you hundreds of dollars at a salon, but treating yourself to a full spa day at home is very affordable. I collect products that interest me to try and decide what to use when I need a spa day and have the time. You could also include your husband in your spa day for a romantic adventure at home for two. Even dudes need some pampering and self care.
Phase I – Bubble Bath
I always begin my spa day with a soak in the tub. This time I used a Dove bubble bath product. I would use this again because it had a light scent and it made my skin very soft afterward.
Phase II – Shower Time
After soaking in the tub in sparkly bubbles, I usually rinse in the shower. I place a shower bomb in the shower for a pleasant scent. While in the shower, I give my hair a treatment with a hair mask. I also used a Soap and Glory body scrub and did any girly maintenance that I could do while in there. I love the Soap and Glory product line. They are a bit pricey but have some fun and unique products.
Phase III – Facial
While my hair is in a towel, I give myself a facial while my hair is not in my face. First, I use my wax warmer to wax my eyebrows, lips, and chin, ’cause…ya know….gotta. After that, the facial begins with a mask. I like the gel or clay masks the best as opposed to the paper masks. The clay or gel mask must stay on the face until it dries, about 15-20 minutes. I use this time to read a magazine or take a power nap. After the mask is rinsed off. I use some frozen eye pads on my eyes to reduce dark circles. This requires another power nap. Now, you could combine the eye pads and the clay face mask simultaneously, but if you are not in a hurry, another power nap will be nice. I decided to do these tasks separately to use an undereye treatment. I finish off my face with some Clinique clarifying lotion and moisturizer. These are products I use in my daily regimen. You can use whatever products you normally use in yours.
Phase IV – Hands and Feet
I love going to a nail salon to get a manicure and pedicure, but sometimes I don’t have time. The salons I frequent give you a lot for their $65+ price, such as paraffin treatment, hot rock massage, hot towel wrap and painted nails. That is just for a pedicure. When it is spa day at home, I always do them myself. I may not get some of the salon’s extra services, but my fingers and toes look pretty nonetheless.
Phase VI – Teeth
Good oral care is always a necessity. Your teeth can benefit from a spa day, too! Start with the obvious by brushing your teeth. If you have an electric toothbrush, spend a little extra time massaging your gums with the brush. After a good brushing, apply a teeth whitening treatment. These usually take some time, so you can read a book or take a power nap while waiting. After whitening teeth, apply a lip mask to the lips to keep them soft and smooth. After you remove the lip mask, apply some lip oil for further hydration.
These ideas are a jumping-off point for your spa day that costs a fraction of what a salon charges. I like to try out different and new-to-me products that I collect over time. I don’t have time for a spa day like this very often, so when I do have time, I like to take my time to pamper myself. You should, too. We all need a day like this now and again to feel rested, relaxed and refreshed.
