Keto Margherita Pizza

You will want to make this Margherita Pizza over and over again! Pizza Margherita was invented in Naples, Italy in honor of the Queen at the time, Queen Margherita of Savoy, and contains the colors of the Italian flag, which are red, white and green.

Now, you don’t have to make this pizza Keto. You can use whatever kind of crust you prefer. You do you, boo!

Ingredients

1 recipe Fathead Dough (or ingredients the regular crust you prefer)

1 jar pizza sauce

1 red onion, chopped

3+ tsp. garlic, minced

2 handfuls of fresh spinach

1 tomato, sliced

A drizzle of balsamic vinegar

1 8-oz bag mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

Prepare your pizza crust. Some pizza doughs require rising, so make sure to plan accordingly if you use that kind of crust. Fathead dough does not require a rise, so I am good to go as soon as it comes together.

Roll the dough out to fit a pizza pan. Grease the pizza pan to make it easier to press out the dough if needed.

Bake the crust in a 350-degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Pour the pizza sauce over the crust and spread it out with the back of a spoon.

Sprinkle the top with onions and garlic.

Place the tomato slices over the onions and garlic; then, distribute the spinach over the pizza. At this point, I got distracted from my task of making pizza. As you can see, I put the spinach on first and the tomatoes on second. Don’t do as I did; put the tomatoes on first. I sprinkled the top with more minced garlic, salt and pepper. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar over the top.

Place the pizza in the oven for 10 minutes to wilt the spinach; then, remove and place the cheese over the spinach. Place the fresh basil leaves over the top. The basil I purchased had huge leaves. They smelled soooooo good!

Place back in the oven until the cheese is melted and the pizza is hot.
