Steamed Asparagus with Shallots is one of the quickest, easiest ways to celebrate it. In just minutes, the asparagus turns perfectly crisp-tender, maintaining its bright green color and fresh flavor. Ingredients
1 large shallot, sliced
4 Tbsp. butter
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lemon, zested
Instructions
Heat some water in the bottom of a steamer. Place the trimmed asparagus in the top of the steamer.

Place the lid on top and steam the asparagus until vibrant green and crisp-tender. Thin spears may only take a couple of minutes to steam; however, thick spears may take 7 minutes or longer.

Meanwhile, melt butter in a skillet.

Add sliced shallots and saute until shallots are tender.

Remove the asparagus from the steamer to a serving plate. Spoon the shallots and butter over the asparagus. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Zest the lemon over the top of the asparagus. Serve immediately.
