Jalapeno Popper Dogs

5/5 - (1 vote)

If you’re looking to give classic hot dogs a bold upgrade, these Jalapeño Popper Dogs are the answer! Spicy, cheesy, and downright irresistible, they bring all the flavors of your favorite jalapeño popper appetizer straight to a bun. Each dog is loaded with all the flavors of the classic jalapeño popper appetizer, such as creamy cheese, smoky bacon, and just the right amount of heat, all tucked neatly into a low-carb bun.

The fun doesn’t stop there. You can make them your own with extra toppings: try a drizzle of ranch or sour cream to cool things down, crispy bacon crumbles for even more crunch, pickled jalapeños for spice lovers, or even avocado slices or guacamole for creamy contrast. For a fresh bite, shredded lettuce or crunchy slaw works beautifully, too.

Pair these dogs with crisp, refreshing sides, like cucumber salad, veggie sticks with dip, or even keto onion rings for balance. Don’t forget the drinks: a cold lager, light pilsner or sparkling water with lime makes the perfect match for all that cheesy, spicy goodness.

Serve them up at your next party, and don’t be surprised when the platter disappears in record time. These are more than hot dogs—they’re a crowd-pleasing upgrade your guests will rave about!

1 package of beef hot dogs

2 packets of Velveeta Cheese Sauce or homemade Velveeta Cheese Sauce

3-4 large jalapenos, chopped or 12 whole jalapenos

1 package Keto hot dog bun

(Optional) Mustard, Ketchup, Mayo

Heat the grill to high. While the grill is heating, you can prepare the cheese sauce. If you are using the Velveeta Cheese Sauce Packets, you can follow the package directions for heating that. If you are making the cheese sauce from scratch, cube the Velveeta and place in a saucepan with some milk. Heat on medium low until the cheese sauce is smooth.

Chop the jalapenos. Alternatively, you can cut the tops and bottoms off the jalapenos, cut a slit down the length of the jalapenos and deseed them. You can wrap the jalapeno around the hot dog. Personally, I think it is easier to eat the Jalapeno Popper Dog if the jalapenos are chopped and sprinkled on top.

NOTE: Always wear gloves when working with jalapenos. The oils from the peppers can burn your skin.

Grill the hot dogs on the grill. You could also boil them or fry them in a skillet if that is how you like your hot dogs. If you are wrapping a whole jalapeno around the hot dog, do that before you grill it. Wrapping the hot dog with the jalapeno if you are frying in a skillet or boiling, does not work very well. You will have to wrap the hot dog after you cook them. I would suggest roasting the jalapeno if you choose one of those methods.

To serve, place the hot dog in a bun with mustard. Top with the cheese sauce and sprinkle with jalapenos.
