I love Keto fusion recipes. OK. OK. I don’t know if a chili dog turned into a casserole is classified as a fusion food, but let’s just run with it, OK?
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 onions, chopped and divided + extra for topping
2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. Swerve or other sugar substitute (or use sugar if not Keto)
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup water
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
8 large hot dogs (I used beef hot dogs), each cut into 4 pieces
1 cup shredded cheese
Garnish: Extra onions
Instructions
In a large frying pan, combine the ground beef, half of the chopped onions, peppers and garlic. Cook until meat is no longer pink. Drain.
Add the spices, Swerve, Worcestershire, tomato sauce, tomato paste and water. Stir to combine and simmer for 30 minutes. Lay out the hot dogs in the bottom of a square casserole dish.
Add half of the remaining onions.
Cover with the chili sauce.
Top with the remaining onions.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese over the top and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until hot and bubbly..
I like to sprinkle some raw onions on top of the casserole as a garnish because I like the freshness and bite of the raw onion. That’s how I like a regular chili dog. You can pile on any toppings you normally eat on your chili dog. Serving suggestions: coleslaw, fried or roasted potatoes or salad
