Peanut butter is a pantry staple that always has a place in my kitchen. Whether it’s spread on a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, blended into a creamy peanut sauce, or enjoyed straight from the spoon (no judgment here!), peanut butter is one of those versatile ingredients that works in both sweet and savory recipes.
While it’s easy to grab a jar at the grocery store, making homemade peanut butter is surprisingly simple and requires only a few ingredients. In just minutes, you can create a fresh, creamy spread that tastes far better than many store-bought varieties. Plus, when you make your own peanut butter, you have complete control over the ingredients, allowing you to adjust the sweetness, salt level, and texture to suit your tastes.
One of the biggest benefits of homemade peanut butter is knowing exactly what’s in it. There are no unnecessary additives or preservatives; it’s only rich, roasted peanuts and any flavors you choose. Whether you prefer smooth, crunchy, sweet, or savory peanut butter, this easy homemade recipe lets you customize every batch to create your perfect spread.
Ingredients
3 cups dry roasted and salted peanuts (if you use unsalted peanuts, you will need to add your own salt)
1-2 Tbsp. honey or other sweetener to taste
1-3 tsp. peanut oil or avocado oil
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Spread peanuts on a baking sheet. Roast for 3 minutes. Remove the baking sheet, then shake it or stir the peanuts. Roast another 33-5 minutes. Remove and cool.

Add peanuts to the food processor. Process 1 minute. With a spatula, scrape the sides. Process another 2-3 minutes until smooth and glossy.

Add salt and honey. If the peanut butter is too thick, add the peanut oil a teaspoon at a time until it is the desired consistency.

That’s it! It is so easy! Store in the refrigerator and use on PB&J or in any recipe that calls for peanut butter.
