Whenever we head out to a burger joint, onion rings are always our first side pick. There’s just something about that golden, crispy coating wrapped around tender, sweet onion that’s hard to resist. Of course, traditional restaurant onion rings are anything but low-carb, but that doesn’t mean you have to give them up. When the craving hits, I love making my own version at home that delivers all the crunch and flavor without the carb overload.
These low-carb onion rings come out perfectly crispy on the outside while staying soft and flavorful on the inside. The coating has just the right amount of texture, giving you that satisfying crunch in every bite, and a touch of cayenne pepper adds a subtle kick that keeps you coming back for more. They’re the perfect companion to a juicy burger or even delicious enough to enjoy on their own as a snack. Once you try them, you won’t miss the restaurant version at all.
Ingredients
1 large onion
1 egg
2 Tbsp. coconut flour
2 Tbsp. Parmesan
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. parsley
1/8 cayenne
Sa;t
1 cup oil for frying
Instructions
Beat the egg in a shallow bowl or pie plate.

In another shallow bowl or pie plate, combine the dry ingredients.

Slice the onion into 1/2-inch rings and separate the rings.

Heat the oil in a frying pan. Meanwhile, coat the onion rings in the dry mixture. This will be only a dusting for the surface of the onion. Then dip it into the egg. Make sure it is completely coated with the egg mixture. Dredge the onions in the dry mixture until coated heavily.
Place the coated onion rings in the hot oil in a single layer. Do not disturb them until the bottoms are firm and golden. Flip them using a wooden skewer. If you use anything other than a skewer, the batter will come off. Fry the other side until golden.

Remove the onion ring to a paper towel to drain. Repeat with the remaining onion rings.

Keep warm in the oven until all the onion rings are fried.
