One of my go-to meals is a good burger. Burgers are similar to gumbo in that there are as many variations as there are stars in the sky. One of my favorite ways to make a burger is with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Adding a fancy cheese elevates a burger to the next level, so this time, I added brie. The brie is a total game-changer for burgers!
Ingredients
1/2 stick butter
1 container mushrooms, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1/4 cup red wine
2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 pound ground beef
2 Tbsp. Montreal steak seasoning
Keto or regular hamburger buns
Your favorite condiments and burger toppings
Instructions
In a frying pan, melt the butter.
Add the onions and mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until onions are caramelized. Add the red wine and balsamic vinegar. Cook until completely reduced. Remove and set aside
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the Montreal steak seasoning. Form the burger patties.
Fry the burgers until the desired doneness. Add some slices of brie on top of the mushrooms and onions and allow to melt. I have seen some spreadable brie in the stores that do not have a rind. This kind of product is perfect for these burgers if you can find it at the grocery store. If the brie has a rind, you can slice it into it and scoop out the cheese.
Serve the burgers on your favorite buns (I used Keto buns) and top with the onion/mushroom mixture. Serve it with your favorite toppings. I topped it with green leaf lettuce and tomato.
Serve with your favorite toppings and condiments.
