When the temperatures start climbing, I love having a few quick, refreshing appetizers that don’t require turning on the oven. These Cucumber Canapes are one of my favorite warm-weather snacks because they’re crisp, creamy and packed with flavor, all while coming together in just 10 minutes. They’re elegant enough to serve at parties, bridal showers, and holiday gatherings, yet simple enough to enjoy with the family as an easy Friday night treat to kick off the weekend.
If you’re following a low-carb or keto lifestyle, you’ll appreciate that these bite-sized appetizers are naturally light, satisfying, and high in protein. The cool cucumber pairs perfectly with the creamy filling, making every bite refreshing and delicious.
What truly sets this recipe apart is the addition of Sterling Farms’ Pickled Quail Eggs. Their tangy flavor and tender texture elevate these simple Cucumber Canapes into a memorable appetizer. I like to halve each quail egg, place one half on top of the filling, and finish everything with a light dusting of smoked paprika for a beautiful presentation and an extra layer of smoky flavor.
While Sterling Farms is known for its premium Texas-raised meat subscription boxes, their online pantry is filled with specialty products that make everyday recipes feel gourmet. Their Pickled Quail Eggs are one of my favorite pantry staples because they’re incredibly versatile. Add them to charcuterie boards, salads, or garnishes, or enjoy them straight from the jar as a protein-packed snack. They’re an easy way to elevate appetizers, like these Cucumber Canapes, without adding extra prep time.
Whether you’re entertaining guests, planning a summer cookout, or simply looking for a quick low-carb snack, these Cucumber Canapes deliver fresh flavor, beautiful presentation, and effortless preparation. Once you make them, they’ll quickly become one of your go-to appetizers all season long.
Ingredients
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup Italian blend cheese, shredded
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp. fresh chives, snipped
2 Tbsp. ranch mix
1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1/4 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 Tbsp. fresh dill + more for garnish
2 Tbsp. Greek yogurt
Salt to taste
1 cup bacon crumbles (optional)
2 large cucumbers, peeled and sliced thick
1 jar Sterling Farms Pickled Quail Eggs, drained and halved
Smoked paprika for garnish
Instructions
In the bowl of a mixer, combine cream cheese, Italian cheese, garlic, chives, ranch mix, salt, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon dill, the optional bacon crumbles and Greek yogurt. Mix until well combined.

Spoon the cream cheese mixture into a piping bag. Alternatively, you could spoon the mixture into a resealable bag and cut off a small corner to pipe onto the cucumbers. Lay the cucumbers directly onto the platter you intend to use for serving. Pipe the cream cheese over the top of the cucumber.

Place a small sprig of dill on top of the cream cheese on each cucumber.

Perch a quail egg half on top of the dill. Alternatively, you could use half of a cherry or grape tomato.

Sprinkle the smoked paprika over the platter of cucumbers to serve.
