It’s National Wings Day! Make Crispy and Tangy Air Fried Lemon Pepper Wings

Rate this post

It’s National Wings Day! Chicken wings come in so many flavors. What’s not to love? Whether it’s sweet, saucy, spicy, BBQ, Asian flavored or dry rubbed, everyone has a favorite flavor. If you can’t make it to your favorite wings restaurant, make some of my Air Fried Lemon Pepper Wings. These chicken wings are made in the air fryer, so they come out evenly crisp.

Ingredients

Two resealable plastic bags

4-5 lbs. chicken wings, divided between two bags

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine for each bag

3 Tbsp. lemon pepper seasoning

2 tsp. salt

2 tsp. onion powder

2 tsp. garlic powder

(optional) 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

1 Tbsp. lemon juice for each bag of chicken

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the lemon pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder and red pepper flakes. You can double the spice mix for a drier wing coating or if you have more wings than the recipe suggests.

In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Again, you can double the amount if serving more wings than the recipe suggests.

In a resealable plastic bag, place your chicken pieces. I used two resealable plastic bags because 4-5 pounds of wings is much more than one bag can handle. Pour the butter over the chicken wings and massage to coat. Add the lemon juice to each bag and massage to coat.

Divide the seasoning between the two bags and massage and shake to coat the wings. You want to ensure each wing is coated with the seasoning mixture. Use more if you need to.

Place the wings in the air fryer. Set the air fryer to 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Check the wings for around 20 minutes for the desired level of crispiness and doneness. All air fryers are not the same, so you need to watch them to make sure they do not burn. My air fryer is not the typical drawer-style air fryer. It has wire racks. I do not find it necessary to turn or shake them during cooking. If you have a drawer-style air fryer, you may want to check the wings midway through to turn or shake them.

The result is crispy, delicious wings! I served these with some sauteed cabbage on the side.
