International Alien Museum Roswell, New Mexico

Rate this post

We were passing through Roswell on our way to Las Vegas and made a stop at the International Alien Museum. When we planned this stop, I thought that it would be really hokey. Admittedly, some of it was, but the majority of it was extremely interesting. We thought we would rush through it in about 30 minutes, but we were there for 2-1/2 hours. It was definitely worth the $7 admission price.

The museum has a typical museum aesthetic with artifacts from the event that occurred there in 1947 with pictures of the site, artifacts and explanations of what happened and what is known of the event. Kids will get a kick out of some of the mock-ups of the alien encounter, including a large vignette of a steaming disc-shaped spaceship, a model of an alien on a gurney with doctors and nurses standing over it and radio equipment from back in the day.

No matter what you believe about alien encounters, if you are not a believer, this place will at least raise suspicions that there might be other life forms out there. If you are a believer that life exists far away from Earth, the Alien Museum will fuel the fire. The incident that occurred in Roswell will definitely rouse suspicion that the government covered up whatever happened there.

The story goes that “The Roswell Incident” occurred near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 when a flying object crashed in the desert nearby. Notified by the rancher who found the wreckage, the government entities arrived at the scene and immediately commandeered the site and all the materials left from the crash. The incident was explained as a crashed weather balloon and was not spoken of much until the 1970s when an army lieutenant colonel gave an interview about the incident that did not match up with what the government released to the public at the time.

The museum presents some very compelling evidence from those involved in multiple parts of the incident that do not coincide with what the government said it was. From the lieutenant colonel’s interview, deathbed confessions, nurses and funeral home directors, this is an interesting story that has almost become a legend.

One side of the museum is dedicated to the Roswell Incident, but the other side of the museum is dedicated to alien sightings, reports, incidents and encounters from all over the world and the history of the unidentified. Roswell is an interesting stop to make if taking a driving trip around the Southwest. Take some time to dig into this interesting and Kitschy International Alien Museum before you get back on the road.
