La Terrazza Mexican Grill is located at the Victoria Mall in Victoria, Texas. Customers can enjoy authentic Mexican food at affordable prices. The menu is impressive and extensive, showcasing a wide variety of wine, beer and cocktails along with dozens of entrees from which to choose. The hardest part is to leave room for dessert!
The staff is friendly and efficient. When I arrived during the lunch crowd, the restaurant was very busy, but we only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table to open up. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a welcoming attitude from the staff. The decor is fairly typical of a Mexican restaurant but stylish with heavy wood tables and chairs. The restaurant is lined with windows facing out into the Mall area. The waitress was quick to bring our beverages and easily answered our questions about menu selections.
The menu is extensive! The first several pages are full of enticing cocktails. I wanted to try them all because the pictures are large and colorful. I counted six different varieties of Margaritas, including a low-cal version, plus mojitos, tropical drinks, Mexican shots and more. On this day, I was boring and selected a regular frozen margarita that came in a huge glass. It was delicious! Next time, I will branch out to try another specialty drink.
Of course, every table receives endless tortilla chips and salsa as does any Mexican restaurant I have been to. If you want an appetizer, there are plenty to choose from, including some tried and true options, but there are also some differences, such as Queso Flameado con Chorizo. The Appetizer page is followed by seven pages of dinner options and full-color photos. You will find popular dinner options normally found on a menu of a Mexican restaurant, but there are many other selections to choose if you want something a little out of the ordinary.
Their specialty is the Fajitas Poblanos, which I may have the next time I visit. They sound wonderful. Instead, I ordered the Fried Avocado plate. This was a hard decision for me because I also like the sound of the Fajitas Poblano The Fried Avocado plate came with an enchilada with your choice of filling, charro beans and Mexican rice. I chose a chicken fajita filling for my enchiladas and I was pleased with my selection. The fried avocado was filled with chicken fajita meat and cheese. It came out perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Delicious! The rice and beans were flavorful and the enchilada was smothered in gooey cheese.
My husband ordered the chicken fajita dinner. The food came out piping hot, which is really important to him, but it did not come out on a sizzling plate as they do at other Mexican restaurants. The fajitas came with rice and refried beans along with some pico de gallo and guacamole. On the side, came a steamer of homemade flour tortillas. The chicken fajita filling was loaded with fresh peppers and had a good taste to them.
If you can save room for dessert, La Terraza offers Fried Ice Cream, Napolitano Flan, Tres Leches, Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake. I would love to try one of these one days if only I can stop eating the main course and all those chips!
La Terrazza Mexican Grill was an outstanding experience from beginning to end.
