I am back to posting grocery hauls in a new way. I generally do a very large grocery haul at the beginning of the month of all my pantry items, and I do a once-a-week smaller haul for fresh items if I need any. Nowadays, prices on many items have skyrocketed, so I find myself chasing deals throughout the month when I start running low on items I use all the time. When I find a deal on shelf-stable items, my philosophy is to buy one for now and two for later. In the long run, I save money that way.
Some people have asked me about my process for once-a-month grocery shopping. First of all, meal planning is the key. I plan meals a month in advance for every week of the month for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. For each week, I write down all the ingredients that I need to prepare these meals. When I do this, I separate the meats and pantry items from the fresh items. Once I have done this, I shop my pantry and freezer for items I already have on hand and mark them off the list. Anything leftover is what I need to purchase. At this point, I am ready to start shopping for a pickup order. I use Walmart, Kroger and HEB for pickup services. By shopping online at all three at the same time, I can comparison shop. I also keep in mind the items I know I can purchase at Aldi. I do not use Aldi’s pickup service, but I will comparison shop with the other three. I schedule my order for the main three stores in the same hour because I know it only takes an hour to pick up from all three. I usually make a trip to Aldi before or after I pick up from the other stores.
That’s it! I’m all done. Once a month shopping is a total time-saver for me. This month, I didn’t really need much, so I shopped for some deals. I feel blessed that I feel well-stocked this month.
Joe Vee’s
Joe Vee’s is an HEB outlet store. They have really good deals on meat and produce.
Foodarama
Foodarama is a local grocery store in my area. This store had some good deals on meat this week.
Kroger
On this day, I used the Kroger pickup service. In the video, I say that this grocery haul was around $80. I laughed at myself because this grocery haul is obviously not $80; it is around $44.
That chicken breast price! $1.27lb! I hope that’s a sign of things to come!
