Where did the Sloppy Joe come from? I get the “sloppy” part, but not the Joe part. As it turns out, a person named Joe invented the sandwich in a small cafe in Sioux City, Iowa. Not much else to that story.
This recipe gives a twist and a turn to the Sloppy Joe.
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. taco seasoning
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 cup salsa
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Hamburger buns
Instructions
Brown the ground beef and chopped onion until no longer pink. Drain.
Stir in the tomato soup, salsa and taco seasoning.
Serve on a hamburger bun. I used Keto hamburger buns from Aldi to Keto-ize it, but you can use any type of bun you like. To serve, top the ground beef with shredded cheese. You can’t get any easier than that! You can make this ahead for a quick take-a-long work lunch or you can make a whole bunch of it and store it in the freezer for an easy meal to throw together when time is tight in the evening. Of course, it is also great to make fresh for lunch or dinner with minimal effort.
