Butterfly Embellishments

Rate this post

Lately, I have used a lot of scraps from scrapbook paper to create my own embellishments. I love how these butterfly embellishments turned out. I might make a few of them, so I will use them for making cards, placing them on gift bags or gift wrap or as an embellishment for another craft. I like making something out of bits and pieces of what I already have. Lord knows, I have plenty of scraps. If you are a crafter, I hope this inspires you to make something out of nothing.

Instructions

The most time-consuming part of this project was selecting the stickers and paper to use. I selected the stickers first. I settled on some beautiful 3-dimensional butterfly stickers that I got at Dollar Tree. I selected the paper from my scrap paper that coordinated well with the colors in the butterflies.

Using a large scallop punch, I punched the paper I would use. I also punched circles from a coordinating paper that was a little bit smaller than the scalloped punch.

Using a pop dot, I attached the smaller circle in the center of the scalloped circle to create a 3-D effect.

I then selected some ribbons in coordinating colors and measured them on my cutting mat. Before I attached them, I snipped some dovetails on each end.

Using a dab of hot glue, I attached the ribbons to the back of the scalloped punch.

After the first one, I decided to make more.

I will use these to embellish gift bags, cards, scrapbook albums and any other crafty project that might need some embellishing. Using up my bits and pieces is definitely a good exercise. It allows me to experiment with new tools and techniques while crafting, and it keeps some of my beautiful papers, stickers and other leftover craft items from languishing or going to waste.
