Cheesy Broccoli and Bacon Casserole

Bacon makes everything taste better! Bacon and broccoli make a good pair in this cheesy and creamy side dish. Serve it alongside steak, chicken, pork or fish. It is quick, delicious and very tasty!

Ingredients

3 cups broccoli cut in florets

1 Tbsp. water

4 slices bacon or turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled

1/2 onion, chopped

5 garlic cloves

2 Tbsp. butter

1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

1-1/2 tsp. cornstarch

2 Tbsp.. dry sherry

1-1/2 cups cream

1/2 tsp. dried parsley

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/3 cup Parmesan

1/2 cup mozzarella or cheddar cheese

Sliced almonds

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Place the broccoli in a microwave-safe dish with 1 tablespoon of water. Microwave for two minutes. Stir and cook for another minute. Drain the broccoli and set aside.

Cook the bacon until crisp. Drain and pat dry.

Saute garlic and onion in butter for three minutes or until soft. Add the Italian seasoning and stir to combine.

In a large measuring cup, whisk together the cornstarch, sherry and cream. Add the parsley, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and garlic powder. Stir to combine. Add to the vegetables and stir until thickened.

Add the broccoli and bacon. Stir gently to coat and combine. Pour into a greased baking dish. Top with cheese, more bacon and almonds.

Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the almonds are slightly browned.
