Cubano Sandwich

Rate this post

I had one very thick leftover pork chop that inspired me to make a Cubano Sandwich. I sliced that pork chop into really thin slices for the occasion. I also happened to have some ham from a spiral sliced ham that I had gotten for .99/lb. It seemed that the stars had aligned for the pork chop and the ham tocollide making a perfect Cubano Sandwich.

Ingredients

2 slices bread, any variety (I used Keto bread)

Mayonnaise

1 or 2 slices Swiss cheese

1 slice of ham or enough to cover your bread

1 slice pork or enough to cover your bread

Dill pickles

Yellow mustard

Butter

Instructions

Lay two slices of bread on a flat surface.

Spread each slice with mayonnaise.

Add a little mustard. I only added mustard on one slice, but if you like more mustard, add it to both slices.

Add the Swiss cheese slices to both slices of bread.

Add the ham and the pork.

Place pickles on one side of the sandwich and put both halves of the sandwich together. Press down on the sandwich with a spatula, or you can press with your hand.

In a frying pan, melt a tablespoon of butter.

Place the sandwich on the butter and fry until the cheese on that side is melted and the bread is golden.

Lift the sandwich out using a spatula and slide another tablespoon of butter into the pan. Turn the sandwich to the other side and fry as you did on the first side. Place a lid over the pan to allow the cheese to melt. Remove the lid as soon as the cheese is melted. Fry the sandwich until the bottom side is crispy.

Serve hot. The smoky and saltiness of the ham and the roasted flavor of the pork combined with the tanginess of the Swiss cheese and pickles and the sharpness of the mustard make this sandwich one of the best sandwiches out there
