Steak Salad

Rate this post

.We consume a lot of steak at my house. On the one hand, it is a Keto friendly meal. On the other, it’s steak. Meat eaters will unite for steak. Steak is an item that I keep on hand in my freezer at all times, so when I see steak on sale, I will stock up. Believe it or not, steak is easy to prepare and doesn’t take very long. I can defrost some steak in my microwave, grill them on my stovetop grill (an outdoor grill takes a little more time because it has to heat up, etc) and be done with dinner in less than 30 minutes.

Sometimes, I will grill an extra steak so that we can have a steak salad for lunch the next day. All it takes is a little thinking ahead, but really your brain power is the only extra effort needed to throw this salad together. It makes me look forward to lunch!

Ingredients

1 large steak, cooked and sliced

Montreal Steak Seasoning (McCormick recommended)

Spring mix lettuce

Grape tomatoes

Shredded parmesan cheese

Chopped pecans

Ranch dressing

A1 steak sauce or another similar brand of steak sauce

Instructions

Sprinkle the steak with a grill seasoning of your choice. I like McCormick’s Grill Seasoning, but I didn’t have any. I did have some Fresh Finds Keto Steak Seasoning, which is basically the same thing, so I used that. Grill your steak according to your preferences. We like ours medium rare. I used to like my steak well done, but as I have gotten older, I prefer it rare more than I used to. I have an electronic meat thermometer that I like to use. I am all about kitchen gadgets as if you did not know. When the temperature reaches 135 – 140 degrees, I remove my steak from the grill and let it rest before slicing.

While the steak is resting, I put together the salad. We are a small family of three, but one of us (who shall remain nameless) does not eat salad. There is no reason to make a huge salad in a bowl that will wilt in the refrigerator over a couple of days if there is no plan to use it in one of our meals for the week, so I am in the habit of making salad by individual bowls. All I do is place a handful or two of lettuce into a salad bowl and build the salad from there. Since this was going to be lunch, I used a plate with a little more lettuce than I would use in a bowl.

On this day, I added grape tomatoes, shredded parmesan cheese and chopped pecans. Slice the steak into strips enough for two salads and place it on top of the salad.

Drizzle with ranch dressing and steak sauce. And voila! Steak Salad.

Steak Salad

Greens and protein are the perfect lunch on a Keto diet. The dressing for this salad is so simple with a savory flair. It is quick and easy to put together, too.
