Deluxe Hamburgers: A Classic with a Bold Twist

Let’s be honest! Sometimes a hamburger is just a hamburger, but when you infuse the ground beef with flavorful mix-ins, that humble patty transforms into something unforgettable. That’s precisely what happened with my Deluxe Hamburgers. These aren’t just burgers—they’re an elevated take on a classic, bursting with savory goodness in every bite. It’s amazing what a few creative ingredients can do!

Favorite Mix-Ins:

  • Finely chopped onions or shallots
  • Minced garlic
  • Dijon mustard
  • Crumbled bacon
  • Shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
  • Smoked paprika or chili powder
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or chives

Mix these into your ground beef before forming patties for added depth and flavor.

Serving Suggestions:

Grill or pan-sear your deluxe patties and serve them on toasted buns (I use Keto buns) with crisp lettuce, ripe tomato slices, and your favorite condiments. Add caramelized onions or a fried egg for a gourmet touch. Pair with seasoned sweet potato fries or a fresh summer salad for a complete meal.

A juicy classic burger like this one deserves an ice-cold beer to go with it. Below are a few that might tickle your fancy:

Top Beer Picks for a Great Burger

1. American Pale Ale (APA)

Example: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

  • Why it works: Balanced hops and malt complement the richness of a beef burger without overpowering it. Great with classic or deluxe toppings.

2. India Pale Ale (IPA)

Example: Lagunitas IPA or Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

  • Why it works: Bold and hoppy IPAs cut through the fat and richness of a juicy burger, especially with spicy toppings or blue cheese.

3. Amber Ale

Example: Alaskan Amber or New Belgium Fat Tire

  • Why it works: Slightly sweet and malty, amber ales pair beautifully with grilled meat and smoky flavors like bacon or barbecue sauce.

4. Porter or Stout

Example: Guinness Draught or Founders Porter

  • Why it works: The roasted flavors of a stout or porter work well with charred burgers, mushrooms, or caramelized onions. Perfect for a cozy evening meal.

5. Pilsner or Lager

Example: Pilsner Urquell or Samuel Adams Boston Lager

  • Why it works: Crisp and refreshing, lagers cleanse the palate and highlight the savory notes of a well-seasoned burger. Great for simple, classic burgers.
