Whip up a batch of these sliders suitable for dinner, lunch, parties, or snacks. These sliders combine the savory flavors of smoked sausage with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Add basil leaves and balsamic glaze for additional freshness and flavor. To top it off, these sliders are very quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
1 smoked sausage, cut in rounds
1 fresh mozzarella log, sliced
1 package Keto dinner rolls or slider buns
Roma tomatoes, sliced
1 red onion, sliced thin
(Optional) 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 jar prepared pesto
Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
1/4 tsp. salt
Instructions
Wrap the dinner rolls in foil and warm in the oven.
Place the tomatoes and red onion in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Sometimes, I will sprinkle on some Italian seasoning over the top. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and toss gently.
Heat olive oil in a skillet. Add the smoked sausage rounds and cook until browned. Remove to a plate.
Remove warmed rolls from the oven and split in half through the middle. Spread both halves of the rolls with the basil pesto.
Place a slice of mozzarella on one half of the rolls.
Arrange the smoked sausage rounds on one half of the rolls. Top with the balsamic tomatoes. Drizzle with balsamic glaze. Place the tops on the sliders and wrap them in aluminum foil. Return the foil package to the oven to heat through before serving. These sliders are like sloppy Joe sandwiches because they are a bit messy, but they are really, really good!
